. Theology and science . Spirituality is a fundamental element of existence because it regards man’s intimate relationship with an eventual God or Supreme Being. It is an important part of life, so it is necessary to thoroughly know all the implications that are the cause and function of its origin, because it establishes many moral and ethic rules with which society must live. . Transcendence has
always been situated in a metaphysical sphere that would seem to be
incompatible with the physical laws that govern matter. Inserted in an abstract vision, not subject to precise rules, it
seems to boast of its incapacity to rationally explain its own nature.
Having ascertained that everything in the universe is subject
to laws that are impossible to change, it would at least be normal that,
before formulating imaginary hypotheses, man would consider spirituality
as part of a total design, inserting it like a product of those same laws
that guide all matter. Instead, this eventuality is not even taken into consideration from the religious institutions, which completely exclude any possibility of it. In this way, representatives of spirituality impede the community’s access to a more realistic vision of its own spiritual meaning. . Theology has enormous difficulties in opening itself to an advanced dialogue with science because, despite its being forced to recognize the evidence of scientific results, it still remains anchored to values expressed in times that were incompatible with freedom of thought. Too many biased interests and convictions focus on the world of the "supernatural". Institutions, founded on ethical principles appertaining to a world that doesn’t exist anymore, make their enormous weight felt by the power vested in them over the course of the centuries. The conservative immobility of these structures enormously damages society in its entirety because they do not ascribe the meaning of one superior transcendental will to the scientific principle of evolution. The evolution of matter is a law that is part of the same universe; whoever decides not to recognize it is inexorably destined to extinction. . Theologians and philosophers, in order to understand the meaning of human existence, seem to refuse every type of objective analysis a priori. Evidently they think it superfluous to arm themselves with exhaustive scientific knowledge, seeing that certain specific disciplines are excluded in their own studies. A mostly conservative society permits imaginary concepts to confuse themselves with other empirically demonstrable ones, without reflecting on the importance of clarifying what could be . their credibility and social usefulness. . Too many authoritative people want to decide the future of humanity without investigating and knowing the structural basis on which the “whole” is physically built. It is like trying to resolve problems without wanting to know the real rules that generate them. The continuous scientific discoveries highlight a very different reality from that indicated by those who would have the duty to illuminate man’s spiritual path. Before a growing and unstoppable necessity for knowledge and justice, the need emerges in the world for a strategy that answers to characters of objective truth and can say . “enough” to the mental manipulation and to the imposed conditionings. . It is inconceivable that the theology and philosophy of today remain anchored to presuppositions that do not foresee any measure of rational reference to establish their socially educational validity. It is impossible to emit judgments that alienate such disciplines from that empirically verifiable reality that we all have the right to know. . The actual intellectual direction seems to refuse to establish those parameters capable of highlighting the limits of a culture headed towards true masochism. Cultured people are forced by politics, economics, and religious conveniences to avoid criticism about a system that leaks water on all sides. Humanity has made many mistakes over the course of history: the counterfeiting of reality is the direct consequence of the lack of that critical sense necessary to make the errors emerge that evolution inevitably commits in its attempts to improve itself. A society headed towards the exaltation of individuality has engraved a deep furrow in the DNA of those who are defined as “beacons of knowledge”, inducing them to neglect some themes because they are resigned to an unconscious subjection towards the constituted powers. . If it is true that the theological studies regarding everything relative to God, and the physical laws are incontestably rules emanated from God himself, . who are the true interpreters of the Supreme Will? . Those who, using reason, dedicate their life to scientific research, or those who refuse to consider the physical laws as laws imposed by God? It is paradoxical that the category of those who scientifically study the events of the world is defined as atheistic, laic, and sometimes even misbelieving, while those who refuse to recognize the unquestionable laws that certainly emanate from God are labeled as . "enlightened by God". . The researcher assumes, in theological and philosophical projection, a new and different dimension that puts enormous responsibility on himself. Every scientist acquires, in consideration of the usefulness or harm that can come to the world from his studies, a strategic spiritual value that is superior to those who refuse to accept the objectivity of the facts as dispositions emitted by the Supreme Being. . . Question: what is God? . In appreciating the wonderful beauty of the world it is impossible to think that everything does not belong to an advanced design, too. It is enough to observe nature to perceive that everything must necessarily have a sense, a purpose, a reason to exist. . Many theological traditions have imagined an omnipotent god, capable of creating the universe from nothing. Some have given Him a form, saying that He created man in his image and likeness but, beyond these suppositions, there is no way to explain His origin and nature. Moreover, no religion has ever been able to give the " Creator " a meaning that could induce the populations . to form a common union, a reciprocal collaboration, a unique belief. . Others were encouraged to deny even its existence by saying that reality is only imaginary. Religions have conceived personal interpretations producing a multitude of different dogmas so that it almost seems that God can be both . everything and the contrary of everything. . It is necessary to observe that, if God existed, He should obligatorily be a universal God, an expression of all creatures and . certainly not exclusive of one specific population; an entity that is an upholder of universal and comprehensible rules acceptable by every single individual. . Instead, until now, it has not been possible to give Him a
cosmopolitan meaning because no religion has ever taken into consideration
the possibility of sharing their own convictions with those who adhere to
different ideologies. The
hypothesis that others could be right, indicating a rational God, is not
part of their way of thinking and they even refuse to discuss such a
possibility, so strong are their convictions in their own faith. . However, a means exists that allows everyone to understand what God could really be. A means possessed by every human being, . a gift as precious as life itself: reason. . The ability to meditate and reason on things is present in every individual. It distinguishes man from animals and allows a continuous evolution towards advanced knowledge. Therefore, wanting to search for the true meaning to attribute to a hypothetical God, it is only by reason that man must operate if he wants to find sensible and reasonable answers. . Man’s life is closely connected to his ability to use reason to absolve his own needs. The more a person acquires experiences the more he receives benefits for his own life, while it is well-known that the cause of all human misery has one single origin: ignorance. This obvious observation should be sufficient to make us understand that . the essence of that which should be God acquires substance through knowledge itself. . In simple words: if God is a Supreme Being and the greater well-being for man derives from knowledge that the mind is capable of assimilating, it means that a direct connection exists between what represents God (the essence of all comprehension) and the impulse that moves towards knowledge itself. . God expresses Himself through the power of thought, knowledge and the comprehension of his own conscience. . To understand, reason, and deduce: all instruments given by God in order to improve man and the society in which he lives. In this way, God indeed lives in every human being since He manifests Himself through the spirit that guides man towards knowledge. Only the ability to reason can help us all to understand what He can be, since, where reason does not find space to impose itself, God cannot exist. Everyone must look for God through his own personal research, not by memorizing His laws from others. . Unfortunately,
no religion has understood, or wanted to
understand, these obvious
deductions. Some have ignored
the problem, others have hindered scientific knowledge because this would
have emphasized the evident limits of their convictions, still others have
even asserted that excessive instruction is harmful for gaining knowledge
of God. It is best not to
comment further. However, it must be considered that religious institutions, in formulating their hypotheses on what God could be, applied the only means known in those times: the interpretation of dreams. This instrument has been the foundation on which the whole system of actual religions has found development and consolidation. . An obliged passage, written in the same evolution of human civilization, so that it was consented, with time, to reach a more evolved spiritual truth. The fact remains that we humans are the elect; only to us, in all the universe, is the possibility given to gain knowledge of the world in which we live. Our intellectual ability is a supreme good, the only means through which we can enter in contact with God. . After thousands of years since the Creator revealed himself, if only in a dubitative form through faith, He finally acquires a new dimension where He appears in comprehensible terms to everyone. . His plans are no longer incomprehensible and unfathomable . because knowledge of the real world allows us to attribute rational and unexceptionable confirmations to His disposition. At the end of this voyage everyone will be able to ascertain how it is possible to give logical, and above all, scientifically indisputable answers to the big questions of life. . Science has allowed the elimination of many wrong convictions of the past, nevertheless, humanity passes through an evolutionary phase where the strategy in use to manage society is still tied prevalently to imaginary concepts. Actual knowledge is capable of demonstrating that man is the result of the evolution of laws that guide matter; consequently, it is only within such rules that man must find the answers to his necessities. In order to exceed the barrier that has always determined the egoism in human behavior, it is indispensable to inform the public opinion of the enormous advantages that can come to every person from knowledge of the real world. .
. It is the right and duty of all men to choose a way of life in the full awareness of both the benefits and damage resulting from this choice. ____________________________________________________________________________________ |
